I grew up in California and had never heard of Bob Brandy, his horse - Rebel, or his TV show until now. I did manage to find a little bit about him for you, I hope this helps.

Bob Brandy was a celebrity children's entertainer with a "cowboy" persona. He had a TV show that was very popular with children for many years, and he was best known in the southeastern USA. He appeared at a public school in Stevenson, Alabama, about 1966, and put on a show that included his famous challenge for children to throw a basketball into a barrel. Any child who succeeded would be rewarded with a number of Silver Dollars. I tried, but I was very young and wasn't strong enough to throw a basketball that far. It fell short and everybody started laughing at me. I cried as Mr. Brandy pulled me off the horse and then my dad took me home. I never watched the TV show again.
