I am currently waiting for a penpal and I was wondering what if he or she is lying to me. What if this person turn out to be way older then me or something like that? How can you tell if they are telling you the truth or lying?

If their fingers are moving they could be lying.

You can't ever really tell. But just look for flaws in what they write. Meaning that if one day they say something about one thing, but then the next day, they'll talk about the same thing, but say something different about it. You know what a mean?
And sometimes you just have to go with your gut feeling. If you think they are lying, there is a good chance they are. But remember that some of these people do this kind of thing often, so just be cautious. My friend recently got in HUGE trouble for talking to some guy. I told her not too, but w/e. Yeah. so be careful.

"If it sounds too good be true, it probably is (too good to be true." There are ways to find out...if you doubt the person is who he/she says he/she is...you could ask them to show themselves on live webcam. Not everybody has webcam, but EVERYBODY has a cell phone. Logically, if they're chatting with you online, they have internet access. And if they have internet access, they also have a phone. Therefore, you can ask them to take a picture with their cell phone of themselves doing something specific. For instance, you could ask the person to write YOUR name down, and show that to the camera. Or ask them to give you the finger, and show that to the camera. If it is indeed them after all, it should be no problem. But if they're just putting you on, they'll make up an excuse, and/or simply leave the conversation.

nope. it's impossible to tell if the person's picsture are fake or if she lied about her age and etc...

however.. sometimes you can tell if she is lying as time goes by.
you can lie about almost anything but if you play it longer, ppl start getting suspicious.

like other ppl said, if she says one thing to you but say differenct thing several months later. it's a red flag.
for example, suppose she said she had dated 3 men before and has been single for 1 and a half year.
then she says she had dated 4 men before and has been single for just 1 year.
it's hard to keep all your lies organized.

On-line, there aren't many ways to tell if someone is being honest. They could send you fake photos or lye about almost anything and you wouldn't know. Don't try to meet them or send them pictures of yourself. Keep it strictly an on-line friendship unless you can find a reliable way to prove they are who and what they say they are.

There's no way that you know someone is lying on you or not... Especially someone you didn't meet before... So be careful, don't trust them so easily...

I think there is no such software available yet, you won't know who is the person seating on the opposite side talking to you.
