Ronald Reagan funded and supported the Talibans in Afghanistan because they were an opponent of the Marxist and Soviet lead government. The Soviet Union tried to repress Islam and other religions where ever it had dominance. The fall of the Soviet Union and the return of religious practice has been the leading cause of the current world problems we face today. Reagan's legacy is the rise of Islamic fundamentalism.

It is the US's fault that the taliban exists for they:
1. disbanded the Iraq military leaving thousands unemployed. 2. They left all these weapons lying about.

You are right, I feel now that in about 30-50 years, the world will be such a horrible, terrible place, there will be no safe place to live.

Not quite. Seyyid Qutb and others formed the Muslim Brotherhood in North Africa long before any Soviet incursion into Afghanistan. And the U.S. didn't fund and support the Taliban. They did fund and support the Mujahadeen Al Khalq, who were the Afghan insular force which opposed the Soviet invasion. That's what drew Salafist Jihadists from all over the world into Afghanistan to fight with the Mujahadeen. It even attracted a chap who came to not only fight but also help with the funding. His name is Usama Bin Laden. After the Soviet withdrawal, a certain cadre of the Mujahadeen, along with their new allies from thrughout the Islamic Umma, decided that the post-Soviet government wasn't Islamic enough. That's where the Taliban came from.
Meanwhile, the nations of the EU looked upon most Muslims within their borders as "children of the colonies", marginalizing them and pushing them into council housing in a new form of ghetto life. Long before Ronald Wilson Reagan was even elected Governor of California, the fine art of "Paki bashing" was being carried out by street hooligans in the UK.

That is a very big reach. The Taliban was now even a dream in the minds of the Islamic nuts when he was in office.
