I grew up in Toronto in the 50's. It was all horse farms and fields back then. Now those fields are all box stores and subdivisions of course and the horses long gone. Lived in small town Ontario till a teen.
Adult years were lived in Toronto.
Then to Vancouver and on to Victoria BC in 1981.
Victoria is even nicer than Vancouver, a lot smaller and homier. A lot more ocean scenery too. From my window here I look out over the ocean, the mountains of Olympia in Washington State, and sky out to the distant ocean horizon. And this is THE BAD PART OF TOWN!
Vancouver is lovely but poorly planned for commutes to work. But it is a lovely city. Toronto is great but too crowded, too fast for me in my dotage as I am now. I absolutely loved my many years living in the inner city of Toronto and only left when I had to escape the cockroaches and raise a healthy baby!

I cannot imagine how Perth got on that list! Every single person I know from Perth says it is impossibly hot and gritty! None of them liked it much .. but Melbourne is another story entirely!
