Oh no! Not that! Man, I went over the posted speed limit on a motorcycle once ... and ... the shame of it all . It's been years now ... but I'm still in a living hell. Find a motorcycle governor ... use it. Save your soul!

Simon,

Start out with a smaller bike that doesn't have the capability to go too fast. Most recommend something in the 250-400 range.

The governor is your brain. The fact that you are asking this question indicates you are aware of the hazards and will probably do ok.

Get a license by taking the Motorcycle Safety Course. Google that and your state to find out where to take it.

No governors on bikes.

Posted speed limits are up to you.

Do you feel like being a punk, or do you respect pedestrians, drivers and everyone else on the road trusting you to act in an adult manner?

Your call. Don't ask a machine make you behave properly.

The 'governor` for maximum safe speed on a bike is your head.
BTW : 'Posted Speed Limits` can be way too fast under wet or foggy conditions especially if you're a tyro.

bikes have govenors Suzuki uses a rev limiting govenor so the bike won't go over 186mph. It can easaly be removed if you know how. I know because mine does have one anymore ( I lived in Germay, no speed limits is FUN)

Once you learn self control, you don't need any of those mechanical speed control devices.

if you don't have control over your own actions it would be best for you to use public transportation like a bus & wear a straight jacket so you wont hurt anyone, your mommy can put it on you before you get on & an adult can take it off when you reach your destination.
or maybe you should grow up.
