I've been visiting other sites and I just don't feel comfortable there. I gave what I thought was a nice, reasoned answer to a question, and got two thumbs down.
So, I'm slinking back home to where I feel more comfortable -- in seniors.

I never slink, now that I'm older and definitely not with my tail between my legs. I have better things to do with them.
Seriously, I like a lot of the catagories, however, I answer in just a few.
BUT THIS SITE IS MY FAVORITE!!!!!
I love the people here, they're great. And so wise. It's like coming home from a good rock concert and going into a quiet room. Really cool.

Well, I had a top contributor award on video games, but seems to have lost it. Oh well ... It got boring in there too and I enjoy the computer section and was quite surprised when I got some best answers in there! What I often do, though, is just open the home pages and scroll through the new questions and answer the ones I find interesting, so it's become a pretty random thing! Maybe I'll get an award for answering so many questions!

Interesting question. I don't remember how I stumbled on YA but when I did, I didn't have a penchant for any one category. I spent more time in Aviation and Boats because that's my primary interest. I found other categories through contacts and ultimately stumbled on Seniors.
Although it's fun I don't think any of us are hiding. Heck our generation saw wars, recession, assassination, civil rights, loss of credibility in leaders and an indulgent society. What's to be slinking from other than the reality we had better mores.

I check this site daily. It's an oasis of friendliness and good spelling! I sometimes find intelligent questions and answers under Social Sciences and Science. However, I refuse to do some kid's homework. Sometimes it's hard to find new intelligent questions. So many people repeat the same questions even though similar question/answers are given when you ask a question. After awhile you realize that it's unwise to answer controversial questions(religion,politics, gay rights) as you're bound to get thumbs downs. (Is that a word?)

I go to home and garden a bunch but lately it seems to be the same questions time and again. I spend most of my time here now--I used to go to health but the mens site is a penal colony for little boys and the womens site has become am I pregnant from girls to young to even be thinking about sex--so I seldom go there any more. Many sites the people would rather here Wiki answers than from someone that has lived it. I like it here.

I gravitate to some of the other sites that peak my interest, but on some I find the same questions being asked over and over, also the stupidity abounds. I prefer it here where questions are answered with a serious vein, of coourse humor is allowed. Some bring back old memories, and laughs with the answers. Everyone here is polite and caring of others, not out to put others down.
The questions are entertaining, and the people on here are great to converse with.

Hi, I visit the Dogs section and the health section most days, but like you I feel more at ease on this section. Don't worry about the thumbs down, some people make a habit of going through all their chosen sections and giving everyone thumbs down, just because they can. It means nothing.

I just sit in the home directory and let yahoo puke forth a varied fountain of refreshing inanity at me.
Only problem with that is, lots of questions from various categories don't seem to show up at all there, seemingly, for some reason.
But I kind of expect that kind of stupidity from yahoo. Their search engine sucks also. I can't imagine why they even bother.

Yes, I do start with all categories to kind of get a feel for who is asking questions. When I can't relate to those I head back to S.C. and usually can answer more questions from that category.

My main "category", Beauty & Fashion, gets pretty boring so I like visiting S&C, Entertainment, Travel, A&H.. A little variety.
