The earth is larger than the moon and has more mass. Because of this the gravity on the earth is greater than on the moon so you would weight more on the earth than on the moon.
Basically the greater the object the more gravity it has and the more you would weight.

When you step on the scale your weight is only earth's gravity pulling on you. So being that since the moon's gravity is only 1/6 (if i remember correctly) of the earth's gravity, your weight on a scale on the moon would 1/6 of your weight from Earth. The only thing that doesn't change is your mass

The weight of a body is proportional to the gravitational force and the centrifugal force caused by the rotation of the earth.The net weight is the resultant of these two forces at a place.The gravitational force on the moon is
1/6 times that of the earth.The centrifugal force is also less on the moon as this force is proportional to the radius from the axis of roation which is less over moon when compared to that of earth.So any body on moon will weigh only 1/6 th of its weight over the earth.
The gravitational force of any planet or moon is proportional to its mass and inversely proportional to the square of its radius.The mass of earth is 81 times more than that of the moon and the radius of earth is only approximately 3 times more than that of the moon. The effect due to the mass difference between the two over rides the radius difference and the net result is that the gravitational force over moon is 1/6 th of that of the earth.This reduced gravitational force on the moon makes the weight also less.

Our weight depends on the amount of gravity which depends on the amount of mass or matter contained in the attracting body. The earth has more mass than the moon, so its gravity is stronger.

It all has to do with gravity. Gravity is based largely upon mass. The earth has much more mass than the moon, so you feel a greater force of gravity pulling you down.

Weight is mass x gravitational force i.e weight is a measurement of the gravitational force acting on an object....as moon's gravitational force is only 1/6th earth's gravitational force...a person's weight on moon will be 1/6th his weight on earth....
