Phone, chat, text, person to person conversations... I love them all and they all have a time when they are best. I like to text to say a quick hi and to remind someone I am thinking about them but maybe don't feel like a phone conversation, messenger is a great chat when I wanna do something AND talk to someone..phone is great when I'm driving or doing something away from computer and want a bit of company and in person is great the rest of the time :)

Are we talking about something like Yahoo! chat? If we are I really, really miss the user rooms. I don't like talking on the phone, you can't seem to get away from the person on the other end. And, chatting is so much more expressive being able to insert word and picture emotes.

Chat. I hate trying to hold a phone to my ear and do other things, too. It's the time that the kids or dogs get into something.

well i really like to talk face to face, but the phone is nice if you cant do that because you can here their emotions. I do chat with people who live far away though.

Depends-- if it's family or close friends--I prefer phone. Acquaintances-- texting. To talk to someone I don't know to get a different person's perspective from outside my close circle-- I chat.

Phone because, unlike chatting, there's no ambiguity. Plus, hearing the other person's voice is reaffirming.
