What makes you think those who believe in religion are the deluded ones? Perhaps those without religion are deluded? Will we ever know? It comes down to personal choice at the end of the day and what does it matter to others what somebody else believes in?

Why are people who believe in God "deluded"? If you really try to determine for yourself whether or not there is truly a God, and not just listen to what others say, you might realize it's not as straightforward as the scientists, and intellectual elitists, tell you.
It's really disappointing to see the sheer uninformed arrogance of so many atheists. I can respect an atheist who can give reasons for his beliefs (note I said reasons, not proof), but no respect is due to these atheists whose only argument is to belittle a believer (i.e., see the answers to your question such as "they don't use critical thinking skills", "sheep mentality", "afraid of death", "they're hypocrites", and so on...). These are tired, old, meaningless arguments.
Many people have very solid reasons to believe in God. No, you can't scientifically prove there is a God, just as you can't scientifically prove there is not one.
So, look into it for yourself, and make your own decision. If there is truly a God, and your wrong by thinking there is no God; don't you think the consequences could be significant?

I think that those who are deluded by relgion are those who use it as a flagship to start wars justify genocide and generally assert their superiority over the majority. For example; Northern Ireland, Far Right Christian extremists in the US (and those now on the rise in the UK), those who dismiss whole social groups (such as homosexuals) as "evil", the Catholic Church that trades in guilt, profits through greed and earns more money and lives its life on arcane philospohies that cause huge amounts of emotional pain to its members. My point being. In Africa the Catholic faith is widely spread and respected. AIDS is also widely spread. It was put to the late Pope that he speak to the African nation promoting abstinence from sex, unless in wedlock and to procreate (as per the catholic doctrine), it was also suggested that as he has a massive influence on his followers that he spread the word as regards safe sex and the use of condoms to prevent the spread of AIDS and ergo SAVE LIVES. He refused!
I do not however have a problem with religion and those with faith. They have a purpose and are often accepting pleasant and benevolent people. We all have our own faith, whether it be publc or private, faith and hope are not saleable commodities or excuses for violence.
Amen!

Its a question of hope replaced by faith.
We live in a world where there is little of the first and too much of the later.
