I have a computer that keeps getting BSOD while I'm using the computer. Sometimes while I'm watching youtube videos, my computer crashes to the blue screen forcing me to hit the reset button my computer. This has been happening for about two years now and it's very frustrating because it takes very long for my computer to restart. The message of the blue screen of death is KERNEL DATA INPAGE ERROR. That's all I have written down but I'll post details as soon as I can.

Pentium 4 3.0 GHz with HT
Nvidia Geforce 6800
768 MB RAM
300 GB hard drive and 80 GB hard drive

i have already done the following:
-reformatted windows XP
-ran chdsk and showed no problems
-reinstalled all hardware drivers

still I am getting the blue screen. I noticed that using SpeedFan my CPU temp rises significantly while the comp is being used. Is this why I'm getting the blue screen? and is there anyway I can reduce my CPU temp?

BSOD is usually associated with an unstable system. Heat can be a factor that induces instability. Try turning off HT to reduce heat. A simple test to find out if overheating is a problem would be to open the case then point an electric fan towards the motherboard. If BSOD stops, you just need to improve case ventilation.

BSOD has been an issue with windows Xp for a while now and there is no particular resolution for this issue...how ever depending on the error message this issue can be islated and resolved...the kernel error you get means that the O/S has a conflict issue on the IRQ'S...just to be on the safer side backup all your data and keep it safet(Not on your c: drive)...

Secondly run a chkdsk from dos...you can do this by clicking on start---run---click ok---then type chkdsk in the dos screen...this would run a check disk on your c: and rectify any errors on the registry...howvere running a disk defrag from the system tools is also a good option...also make suer you are setting up a restore point...you can do this by click on start---programs---accessoriees---system tools---system restore--follow the on screen instructions and set up a restore point..this would help you incase the computer crashes.

P.S: if you have a Dell computer you can also try running a diags on the hard drive...you can do this by shutting the computer down---restart--keep tapping function key F12 before you see the dell screen...you should have a diags screen select the appropriate option and run the diags on harddrive

If you have your Windows disk - insert that, reboot , and select " Repair ".

If this doesn`t work, you may need to re install completely.

Now - before you do - make sure that you have a backup of all important files, documents etc.
