sometimes i write it so quickly and when refer back to them later, don't know what letters they are.
or if it's a secret note, i try to make it understandable only by me, but later end up not knowing what it means.

Yes, absolutely, and sometimes I can read notes I made about something but have no idea what they mean, like "rodents canning bell peppers" or "flax cigarettes". Why do I bother to write these things down? Why did I care at the time? What do they signify? I'm sure it was important to me. And no, I am not insane. Just widely read.

This had happened to me. I had recently come across notes that I had taken while I was in college and when I looked at them they seemed like they were written in some cryptic script?!
For the life of me I couldn't tell what the notes were referring to. After about fifteen minutes I finally deciphered the notes. They were referring to a form of cognitive-behavioural interpretation of geriatric aberrant-psychology. I was a psych major?!
It is a wonder that I didn't continue with the study of psychology and became a teacher instead. You need and interpreter just to communicate. Instead of "cognitive-behavioural geriatric aberrant-psychology" why not just say how old people think and behave when their brains go soft?!
LOL
Anyways that was my experience.

Yes, that has happened to me. It is worth it to slow down just a second or two to make your note understandable. As far as righting a note to yourself. If you right is so only you can understand it than you'll need to put some thought into what you write. Maybe your own pre-thought up code or just well thought out words.

I use to really get aggravated when I missed a test question and when I look back on my notes, I had the answer scribbled somewhere in a corner or something!

I wrote all my notes in script. It looked like the Richter scale during an earthquake.

That's why I have two notebooks. One to jog down during the lecture, another to summerize the chapter and make a comprehensive collection of all facts and formulas. (math)

All the time. I do it with numbers to. I think it's because I've read to many of the prescriptions my doctor gives me to get filled.
