I am almost 14 years old. I havea bra, but my mom's friend gave it to me and it finally fit me just a while ago. Now, Its still an okay size, but it keeps unattaching itself and I would likea new one. My mom knows that her friend gave me one, but I'm not sure if she knows I am wearing it. I wash it while she's at work (because it looks ugly. The seguins fell off and their leftover glue is still on them.)
I have worn camis since 6th grade and am not bigger than an A. My moms not the kind to get excited. And I try to avoid talking to her about ything about my body.
What should I say to her???

Say "Mom, I need you to help me buy some bras. It's time." You may want to start with sports bras. They are more comfortable.

Your breasts will begin to grow into an awkward shape (or sag) if you do not wear a bra at this age now that u are developing and will develop until about 20..Am sure your mom knows this, and also am sure she does not want you to feel uncomfortable with your nipples showing through ur shirts!! So just go ask her. Dont be embarrassed!! and be cool about it, dont make a big deal...take care girl

Be straight up to her. You can try not wearing a bra around her and maybe she'll notice that you need a bra, but then of course she'll say wear the one her friend gave you and that would be the perfect time to tell her that you need a new one. I remeber I got my first bra from my aunt. Anyway, Good luck!

I am surprised that your mom isn't concerned. My daughter is 12 and I took her to buy some. I'm not thrilled with the fact that she needs one but I don't want the developing nipples to show through her clothes either. With all the weirdos out there, your mom should be making sure that you what you need so they aren't staring at you. Tell her Hello mom I need a bra. Good luck

You'll have to bite the bullet and just tell her the truth. Tell her you want to get a bra that fits because what you've been wearing isn't comfortable anymore. Don't go into the cute thing, she sounds too practical to worry about that. Go for the comfort angle... she'll want you to feel good I'm sure.

Honey, your mom wears bras, I'm sure she will understand!
If not, get 10 bucks together and go by yourself or with some friends to walmart. They have sports bras you can buy for really cheap. Some come in a 3 pack for 6 bucks. And don't be embarrased to buy them, I just saw two girls your age buying thongs.

well she certainly is going to get pissed at or anything of the sorta. Approach her and ask her what she thinks of u wearing a bra now which you should be doing anyway by now. She shouldnt have a problem but if she does just tell her how you feel.

Hey I feel the same way! I'm serious. i have one bra and it's ripping and old ugly i also wash mine when my mom's at work, i tried to sew mine back together and it looks very ugly, i also am a smaller size and i AM 14. 15 in December. we are going school supply shopping and I'm somehow going to ask her to buy me bras and underwere see ya♥

Wowwwww.... its not like your asking her for birth control pills its just a bra I was a D at your age how do you think I felt? Seriously thats hardly talking about your body just ask her, and if you dont wear a bra people WILL make fun of you behind your back at school and its not fun.

You poor thing,
I am a mum, and if my daughter needed a bra I would take her shopping to get some, if she didn't want me to be with her I would give her the money and wait outside the shop while she went with her friend.
I would just say it straight out, mum I want some new bras'

You should try and get comfortable talking to your mom about your body... she has experience and can help you if you ever have a question. Just say "Mom, I need a new bra, the one so and so gave me is falling apart, and I really need your help." Moms like it when they are needed. =)
