I'm going into tenth grade and I recently found out my current class rank. My class rank is 42 out of 163. My average GPA is 89.4. This is a B+ average in my school system. I have block sheduling and so I have four more semesters to bring it up. How much of a chance do I have to make into the top 20% of my class by the end of my junior year? My school gives out scholarships to the top 20%.

I want to raise it by the end of my junior year because that is when I apply for college.

it's all up to how bad you want it and how hard you're willing to work. you must be determined. you can do anything you put your mind to.

Study hard for the classes you are taking and if they are offered, take an advanced class or two each semmester. Usually the advanced classes are weighted to a higher standard (1.0-5.0 instead of 1.0-4.0)
As long as you can do well in the class it will pull your GPA up but if you take on too much and don't do well, you could drop in the rankings.

Hard work and study is your best bet just don't burn yourself out. Make sure to take at least a little time to relax and let your studies sink in while you relax a little bit no matter which way you chose to go.

Do your homework and study for the tests, and do well on the tests. You're already in the top 25%, so with a little hard work, it shouldn't be too hard. Considering you're only going to be a sophomore, it shouldn't take too much work in order to make it. Just try and get as many A's & B's. Take honor classes (like AP & IB), it gets weighed onto your GPA.

Whoa, hold on with the data. I just started AP statistics this year. ; ) Seriously, you just have to get higher grades. Try taking some weighted classes.
