I merely wanted to see how many people did what many of us (me and my friends) have done over the years, done without health insurance because we were healthy, but doing without that extra insurance bill boosted your career and future income...it was a great idea, in fact, for us at least.

yes harlan, it's like now our PIP insurance has been voted out...so we'll have to sue if we're in an accident. So apparently people prefer to sue than to be covered as it seems when there's money available (as in insurance coverage) then people take advantage of it. (or at least that's what is being said)

dreamy, did you know you can refuse the tests in the ER if they don't sound like they are needed? Lots of people just accept the tests because they think ER knows what it's doing. Some of the tests aren't needed.

it's not stupid...lots of people go without health insurance because they are healthy and trained. I don't know the percentage of people who do it for the higher wage though, but there is a percentage of people who do.

No, I usually go with the Health Plan, whatever it is. The cost of doctors visits, prescriptions, and various medical stuff is usually more than the money I'd have gotten back on my check without.
As I have a son who is a chronic asthmatic, I really can't afford to go without insurance.
I think the longest I ever went without insurance coverage at all was (before my son was born) from the age of 19 to the age of 26.
In that time I did suffer various ailments, and had to pay out-of-pocket (or get help from my parents), although I suppose I was luckier than not.

I did in the beginning because I was young and thought that nothing could happen to me, and then I had to go to the ER one night and ended up with a bill for $2400. Guess who signed up for insurance two months later when enrollment came around...

I used to do it, because the insurance was soooooo high, but the benefits outweigh the extra 120 in my pay a month. Having insurance gives me a little extra piece of mind if myself or my family are ever sick.

bypass to your HR person and tell him/her which you have enrolled on your companion's plan, and you do no longer desire to take part on your organization's plan. they could want you to sign a type waiving your participation. some employers pay human beings extra in the event that they do no longer participate interior the well being plan, by way of fact the corporate saves a great form of money.

If you are very young, that chances are ok. It is kinda like not having car insurance. You never know when you will need it and if you do and don't, you are going to pay, pay, pay, pay, and pay again. Don't get cheep. It is not worth the chance. I was 24 and had no insurance. I just about died from pneumonia.

I did one year, because they doubled the deductable from 38 dollars every two weeks to 76 I though that was ridiculous. But it was a statement. and not the brightest one I have ever made.
