you're already working a double. Can't you just work one shift for them? They should be understanding. Try and see if someone can cover your shift for the period of the class. if you have dependablity and stability with a job they are usually understanding with circumstances such as yours.

You got a call from a school offering a class tomorrow? If the school has to call you, I don't know. Never heard of that. You can ask your boss for time off if you wish, but do not lose your day job.

well, if you haven't made it a habit to call out of work, your boss should be understanding if you explain this situation
this is your future career you are preparing for afterall
will you be in classes all day? will you be able to work at least one shift? isn't there anyone you can call to replace you
good luck, I hope your boss is a nice person and can cooperate with your new schedule

Honor your work commitment. Any school that would call you "the day before classes are to begin" is not legit.

A real opportunity will come along again, an opportunity that will allow you to plan and schedule your life accordingly.

Hmmm, maybe when you wake up the next morning, you should tell your boss your sick and ask for the day off.

DO NOT LIE TO YOUR BOSS!

tell him the truth. if hes a nice guy and respects your responsibility and honesty, he might let ya go.
