I want to get a breast reduction (covered by ohip) has anyone had one covered by the governement and how long is the wait typically for surgury from the first appointment with the plastic surgeon to the surgury day?

And what were your reduction experiences...my gp recommended one about ten years ago (i wanted to be able to breast feed all my children) so i have finally decided to get one, starting to be healthier, running, walking, and the back pain has become unbareable at times, not mention i have five kids to care for, but not clear on how to go about it, get it covered, chosing a plastic surgeon (might go with the doc that did my infants cleft palete, as he did an amazing job) just any information would be helpful at this point!

Thanks so much

It took three hours and I stayed overnight in the hospital.

Make sure you talk to at least THREE PS's before deciding on who to do the surgery. I ended up going with my second PS consultation. Also make sure to look in your health care plans directory, if you go out of your network you will pay more out of pocket.

The thing you need to remember about the recovery is PATIENCE. It takes TIME for you body to heal, so if you get tired, rest. It will take some time for your breasts to get your final shape, for nipple sensation to return, and for your incisions to close and your scars to fade.

I hope you have someone to help you take care of your kids while you are recovering, because you shouldn't pick them up for some time, or else your healing will be affected.

from my experience in this field it is best if you find a specialist surgeon in this field, someone who specifically deals with your type of breast surgery because you do not want anything to go wrong!
Actually you should find a surgeon who does breast augmentation surgery i think they would no whats best for you.

Also if you already have approval for the surgery
you should book and find the surgeon make an appointment and then you will be told how much longer you might have to wait.

Its perplexing to respond to your question without understanding your top and weight, ie are you generally obese or are you otherwise slender. If its the former I dont think of a physician could take you heavily until eventually you had lost weight and set out on your appropriate length. attempt swimming, that doesn't be uncomofrtable. If its the latter then see a physician because of the fact this breast length in an otherwise slender determine ought to reason severe back issues over the years, and in the united kingdom you need to probable get it completed on the nhs.
