Awhile ago I lent a work 'friend' about $300 as he claimed he was in a bind due to health issues. He later used the money to buy shoes and take his wife and mother out to dinner. Besides that... We made a deal that this money would be repaid to me at some point when he was back on his feet and more finacially stable. Not long after that he was fired from the company. This was about a year ago, I decided not to presue a friendship with him from that point due to other issues. I do know how to contact him and I still want that money back! How would you suggest I bring the subject up that will be effective and get results? (That doesnt involve using a hit man or blackmailing?)

hrm.... when he gets a job, say 'oh, you can pay me back that 300$ now!' with a big grin on your face-- that will remind him, but in a friendly way.

call him up and just be straight forward about it. say, "You know that money i lent u, i think its time u pay me back", and if he refuses, then go to his house knock on the door and ask for it. If he still refuses, u should tell him to meet u somewhere and hand over the money. tell him if he refuses u will hire someone to kill his wife, and/or mother.

Hope this helps.

Got anything in writing? Did he sign something that he was accepting the $$$ as a loan and it was not a gift? If so, go to small claims court.

If not, you're screwed.

Simply ask him for it.

My BEST advice here though, is to never and I do mean NEVER inject money into a friendship. If a friend needs money, give it to them, don't loan it. If you get it back, its a bonus.
