I'm 16 and i turn 17 on sept 17th. This is sad for me. My childhood is coming to an end. I'm getting old. I'm trying to enjoy my last days of being 16. please help? To make things even worst, I didn't have what is called a 'sweet 16' party. I do plan to have what i made up a 'sweet 17' to make up for it. How can i enjoy my last days of being 16? But then there the fact that good things may happen to me like a cool vacation and i can go..."oh being 17 isn't that bad after all". I wanna have fun, fun, fun when i turn 17 so i can enjoy that. But Imma miss being 16. I often tell people im 15.

Oh and I wanna look younger too.

I'm 17, and I've felt the same about oh um...just a few months ago--but an experience opened my eyes, and I saw that most people would not begin to think like a true adult until they were at least 24, despite the fact that you are considered an "adult" legally on paper when you reach the age of 18. It's funny really when you realized certain things. So, this is really good news then...you still have 7 more years to still be a kid.

Btw it is not wise to talk over your iniquities and disappointments and mourn over then until you are overwhelmed with discouragement, shutting out the light from their soul and casting a shadow upon the pathway of others.

In a garden there was woman mourning and grieving. She was not walking in the pathway following the guide, but was walking among the briers and thorns. "Oh," she mourned, "is it not a pity that this beautiful garden is spoiled with thorns?" Then the guide said, "Let the thorns alone, for they will only wound you. Gather the roses, the lilies, and the pinks."

Leave all unpleasant recollections of a past life behind you and begin living life. Believe me I've felt the same way, like I was missing out on life. I mean I used to take myself so seriously that I forgot to enjoy life, but in time I broke down those barriers and let myself free. I did look back and saw that there were many good things in my life. Every step you take in life is a new beginning, just embrace it. Good luck.

If you ever need my help, you can always email or im me.

are you serious? since when did being a teenager make you eligible for social security? why WOULDN'T you want to get older? In another year you can vote and get into some clubs. When you're 21 you can drink and by the time you're 25 your car insurance rate will do gown. I'll be 26 in 5 days and i'm totally stoked about it. It's true when they say you're only as old as you feel because even though I've grown up and have a family and a degree and a job and all those adult things, i still feel like i'm 16 most of the time. Sometimes I miss my teen years, but everybody has to grow up and not live in the past. I hope you have a cool birthday. I don't even remember what I did for my 16th or 17th. Maybe you can just have some friends over and get some pizza and horror movies. The thing i miss the most about my teen years are my friends that i've lost either from death, moving, fallin out, etc..so my advice to you is to make the best of the time you have left with your friends because they may not be around in 10 years.

This is a strange question to me because I couldn't wait to have the freedom that adulthood brings...the freedom to make money to support myself, chose where I want to live, who I want to hang out with, driving anywhere I want, chosing my own vacations. I found my teenage years to be somewhat depressing, and so turning 18 and going away to college was such an exciting event! I stopped being so self-absorbed about how I looked or how others judged me. I'd never go back to 16 or 17 if I had the choice, but 18, well that was one of the most exciting years in my life.

I'm sorry that you can't look forward to the future with more enthusiasm. Would it help you to think of all the fun and exciting things you'll be able to do in a few years that you can't do now?

Maybe you don't feel confortable or confident about being able to identify or follow your dreams. If you go to college, that's an excellent place to "try on" different interests, different kinds of friends, and different just-about-everything. Only by trying different things will you be able to find out what really appeals to you and what doesn't.

One of the best things coming for you in the next few years will be discovering you can take care of yourself...at this age I guess you're anticipating the problems more than seeing the advantages. Once you find out you can handle it, you'll wonder why you ever felt this way.

(By the way, I didn't have a "Sweet 16" party and you know what, it'll mean exactly nothing to you in a few years...other than to embarrass you that you thought it was so important at the time.)

Happy Birthday!! and I hope you have a blast!!!!

You need to start growing up and being a responsible teen, you should look forward to turning 17 because you turn 17 only once.

Cheer up Dude, it only gets better as you get older. You will soon have to make lots of decisions, ADULT ones and if you are mature enough, you will make the right ones.

For now, enjoy being a kid and do things that you never got to do, but wanted to? And be excited about your upcoming party, make flyers and invite lots of people, have a band or a discotheque and party yourselves out. Remember to take lots of pictures and make an album to look back at when you're off to college.

Whatever you do, please don't get drunk without your parent's permission, if there is no drinking allowed, respect the rules.

After hanging with the Big dogs, you won't miss being a Puppy anymore......Good Luck!

I felt the same way. You are feeling that your days as a kid are about over. Soon you will be 18 which here in the USA means it's is time for you to grow up, move out, get a job & maybe start college. The time of depending on your parents for shelter, money, food, health care & other important things is almost over too. It is a scary feeling. Feeling old is just the way you are interpreting it. One good thing is for me personally I really didn't feel the "I'm a grown up now" until I hit 30. lol Doctors have said the human brain really doesn't mature until the late 20s or early 30s. I'll be 36 in less than 2wks. Happy birthday Edit - I just remember how my grandmother at age 92 told me "I feel that I am now officially old. Time to stop driving." ; ) She is now 95. Old is all in the mind. I'm sure you've seen elderly people who are in their 80s acting like teenagers. Life is all you make it. You can be carefree yet also an adult.

Think about it this way, in 10 years you can look back fondly on this moment and KNOW that you were upset for not the best reason.

Some people treat time like a thing to be fought, I view it as a place in our life we come to. At 17 you get to think about what you want to do with your future, do you want to be a scientist or an artist or a politician or something completely different, that's ALL ahead of you.

Enjoy the moment, it will never come again.

I'm 20 (almost 21) and I was sad that I was turning 20 because I wasn't going to be a teenager anymore! So I can relate. And I never had a sweet 16 party either and I'm sad that I missed out on that. So I say, have a sweet 17 party before you miss out on that too! :) Be happy, you could be a LOT older, don't spend your youth feeling bad and dreading the years to come, ENJOY THEM! :)

you are still a child! i'm 23 and i still play on swing sets and jump in puddles. your childhood is not even close to over. as long as you enjoy the simple things in life you can still have fun no matter how old you are. don't stress about 17!

oh! and someone once told me that a woman is the most herself when she is 17. she is the least likely out of her whole life to be influenced by the crap around her. you won't experience that again until you are like 40. so enjoy 17 and find yourself!
