a supercharger would be easier and cheaper.

both would need serious upgrades to crank out a lot of horsepower. both motor and tranny.

plan on doing the tranny even if you go mild. the 4l60e isn't a strong tranny stock.

i toasted mine when i upgraded my motor with a heads/cam package.

1 - is this a four speed or six speed tranny. If four speed, save your money as this is a rather suboptimal vette.

2 - Turbo will add a large amount of heat. The vette is already challenged in managing c5 underhood heat. A Turbo may cause you to accelerte failure of heat sensitive components, which already are stressed and fail at a higher than expected rate....e.g. alternator, other electric motors, etc.

3 - supercharger is best alternative, but still not optimal. I strongly encourage NOX or better breathing through free flowing intake, headers, wider exhaust pipes (kook bothers 3" pipes with headers and free flowing cats, better mufflers, head work. Safer for the engine, easier to drive under may situations due to the nature of power delivery on turbos/superchargers. and nearly as productive in HP creation. Also, brake upgrade is essential with HP increase as is Z51 or better chassis.

Good luck

I have a C5 Z06 and turbos are about 50% more expensive over a supercharger for my car.

well The turbo does not draw any power from the engine but it does add heat onder the hood and chould have an inter cooler added for added cooling and added life. It does however lag. It takes a secound our 2 to build up speed and add the boost. It is better on newre models.
The supercharger is a good choice too but it draws its power from a belt and uses 25 to 505 of the power it greats but with no lag and no extra heat. I would make my choice based on price and ease of installation.

Turbo, and probably a real tranny to go with it.
