I've always been anxious concerning this matter because i have nasty scars on my body. I wonder if i get disqualified during a physical examination because i know for a fact that it entails getting totally nude before the examiner.

I don't know where you got your "facts" but the only time I had to see a doctor before getting my first passport, it was to get an inoculation for TB because I was going to Mexico. Scars won't be enough to disqualify you from travel abroad but open, runny sores and/or lesions WILL be questioned.

The last time I had a physical exam, I kept my underwear on, so I think you are worrying just a tad too much. But it depends on the doctor and how detailed the examination will be. If you are uncomfortable, just tell the doctor and he/she will understand, I'm sure.

Doctors are accustomed to seeing scars so don't be so self- conscious about them and you'll be fine.

Hope this helps.

The only time I was nude before a trip abroad was my
military physical...

no other travel restrictions like that that I'm aware of.

Scars wouldn't keep you from passing. Open sores, typhus, AIDS, smallpox....these are things that would set the alarms off.

Scars are not infectious.

unless you have a contagious disease, I don't think scars are going to stop you.
