Sounds like a growth spurt. Try increasing the bottle size to 4 oz.

By 8 weeks, my daughter was up to 4-6 oz per feeding. She was sleeping through the night though, so she ate more during the day.
My mom told me that when I was starting to sleep through the night that I would nurse constantly in the evening to "stockpile" for the night. Maybe you're about to get a long uninterrupted night of sleep!

My daughter was a BIG eater too. At your sons age she was on 4 ounces every 2 hours! She was just a hungry, big kid who needed to eat. Not all baby's are alike, some are born with bigger appetites than others. As long as you're burping him until he gives you two good burps he should be totally fine! Your pediatrician will just tell you that he's eating too much and tell you to keep him on 2 - 3 ounces every 4 hours. My baby came out of me ... not a textbook, as did yours. You inately know what is right for him. Good luck to you!!

If he's totally emptying his bottle then you should give him more each feeding. 2.5 oz doesn't seem like enough as I remember (I have a 3 yo and a 1 yo). Our pediatrician's recommendation was, if they are emptying the bottle, prepare .5 oz extra (i.e. if they typically empty 3 oz. then you would prepare 3.5 oz.).
So you probably need to be giving him more at each feeding.

Growth spurt! He needs more in his bottle now. A good calculation is to give 1/2 his weight in ounces at each feeding. Example: if he weighs 9lbs he will take close to 4.5 ounces at a time, approx. every 4 hours.

Give him more in his bottles. He might be going through a growth spurt. Give him a 4oz bottle and see if he finishes it.
