Sadly no just take a look around us. . .

What doesn't help us is the egotistical a s s holes that are in office all around the world and the nuts trying to make their point by destroying things and people.

No, we can't. It is a awful, horrible truth that we try to not think about. Lets bring it to a realistic scenario....You have a friend, they lied, cheated, treated you badly. Do you give them a flower and a thank you note? Human nature is not one to do such. I think forgiveness is a beautiful thing and I work daily to practice it, but in our heart of hearts...there is a bit of darkness. Some just like to let their darkness take over. We are not all carbon copies of each other, saying that it explains how we just all can't get along...also..lets take a more extreme approach. Lets say a child molester attacked someone you love....hmmm...are you going to forgive the sick jerk or help him fry? Shall we all get along with him because of his sad childhood. What if a man beats his wife? Shall we just throw down the handcuffs and give the poor guy a big old hug? There are too many variables in human nature for "everyone to get along" to happen.

No.

There was a day, as recently as 40 years ago, where we DID all get along. We fundamentally disagreed, but we respected one another as human beings anyway. Lawmakers on either side of the aisle in congress would go out to dinner and parties with one another, putting their differences behind them after a busy day at the office, and enjoy one another's company.

It seems that since Viet Nam and Watergate, that civility has disappeared. Now, everything has to be personal. I wish that everyone would realize that most people in government are acting in what they believe to be the best interests of the people they represent. I long for a day when people respect one another again, and are civil to one another.

It really wouldn't take that much for everyone to get along...just a little respect, and a little civility. Just treating others the way you'd want to be treated, and respecting people even if you don't agree with them.

This might seem crazy, but I'm going to say it anyway: No. We cannot all just get along.

But we can have freedom of speech, since it is our US Constitutional right. And we should fight for that right, even if it means we don't agree.

This nation has operated with political strife since its inception, sweetie. Let's fight to keep it that way, it's what keeps the place as clean as it is.

Totally impossible ---
entirely too many, hard-line, engrained differences
that have been too deeply rooted within the various cultures and factions within the world for centuries !!

And, besides, that would mean that the lawyers of the world would have to get REAL jobs--- and don't think for a minute that they're going to stand idolly by and watch THAT happen !!

I doubt it. even if humans could get along on their own. I fear the being behind all of religions would make sure to have religions start more conflicts.

What would be the fun in that? This section makes my day, I love pointlessly arguing politics with strangers.

edit: 36 answers, so far and no star. I gotta fix that.

we need to do more than get along. We need to quit letting them use us against each other and start combining forces against them.

I cant even imagine if we did. Everyone being nice to each other, remindes me of watching Leave It To Beaver re-runs. That would make me want to shoot myself
