Hi i was just wondering if the lunar eclipse of 28 aug 2007 will be visible from Singapore?

From the graphs i've seen, it seems we'll just barely be able to catch a little of it at moonrise... if we manage to find a real good viewing spot.

Can anyone confirm this for me?

Any help rendered will be greatly appreciated!!! ^^

Hi James!

In Singapore, you'll see the ending of the eclipse with no difficulty, if the sky is clear the evening of Tuesday the 28th.

The moon rises totally eclipsed from Singapore, and in the bright dusk sky you won't at first be able to see the lunar disc at all. But at 7:23 p.m. Singapore Time, the moon begins to leave the earth's umbra, so out of nowhere you'll start to see a bright bit of the moon slightly above the eastern horizon.

As you watch, more and more of the lunar crescent begins to show, and as your sky grows darker you may also make out the ghostly face of the still-dark part. The lunar crescent gets fatter as 8 p.m. approaches, until the moon leaves the umbra completely at 8:23 Singapore Time.

You don't need any special viewing spot, except that you must have an unobstructed line of sight to the eastern horizon.

It appears that the Pacific ocean will see most (if not all) of the eclipse. The moon will be at zenith over French Polynesia in the South Pacific at greatest eclipse.
For Singapore, it appears that the eclipse will already be in progress at moonrise, so you won't see the start but you will see from the total part of the eclipse to when the eclipse ends.

not one of the eclipses would be seen there. there will be an entire photograph voltaic eclipse on August a million, yet merely seen over areas of Russia and China. The partial lunar eclipse on August sixteen would be seen frequently over Europe and Africa, to boot as a chunk of it seen over South united states of america. The Perseid meteor showers peaks on August 12, yet they are going to take place (much less in extensive form) some days the two element of that date. superb thank you to view is to get faraway from city lights fixtures and seem in a time-honored northeasterly course. extra powerful viewing cases are after hour of darkness, whilst the rotation of the Earth contains you right into a extra powerful place.

When the moon rises for you (7:12pm) the evening of the 28th, the eclipse will already be total.
The total phase will end at 7:21pm.
The partial phase will end at 9:19pm, 30 degrees above the horizon.
Enjoy.
