Because Governments are human, like the rest of us, with ambition and a drive for power added - salted with a certain amount of hubris, ideology, and greed (but usually without the capacity to satisfy these drive through commerce). AND because they have to try to get elected by appealing to the stupidity of the mass of voters, or if they are dictators, by cowering those who would oppose them. So largely, they are us. It's a worry, isn't it! And as a former political reporter and activist I can assure you that power corrupts.

That's what happens when greed and power get ahold of you. All logical and rational thinking is down the toilet and leaders want to portray themselves as all knowledge, and right or wrong, they know what they are doing, so they think! Out comes the "big" heads and ego tripping, "look at me, give me your attention, hey I'm the man", but they put their clothes on just the same as everyone else, and has limited brain power as everyone else. A true leader is modest, and concerned enough to "listen" to the people about their priorities, interests, and most importantly, their safety.

Governments are stupid because the premise behind them is stupid. The premise is that someone else knows how to run your life better than you do.

The government is singular so you should use (is). besides that it is that way because anything run by imperfect human beings is going to be flawed; even religions. It is a sad fact of life.

when your president claims to not be an expert in anything, and his staff also are not experts in their jobs, then you have a government that doesn't know anything. and remember, unless its a dictatorship or a theocracy, those who vote are the one who created the stupid gpvernment in the first place.

Yet they lead the stupider. Who would ever want these morons deciding your retirement, health care, or education?
Isn't it time to dump these morons and take responsibility for our own life?
