Not at all. If your diet consisted of junk food then you could completely by all means remove them from your diet. There is no sweet group, (I confess I did not heed that advice). However you do not want your vanity to get in the way of your baby's health. By all means you can switch to a healthier diet, just do not restrict your eating. Eat when you are hungry, never ever go without you need starting the second trimester to consume 300 extra calories to your diet. This would only mean say, adding a snack like whole wheat PB toast or a bowl of cereal as an evening snack. I have gained 45 lbs and I have been told I look good, (by more than my husband so I believe it) I am no where near the weight I wanted to be (25 lbs lighter than this) but I know that my baby was not deprived of any nutritents, and that is crucial. You can always lose the wieght later or you can walk for exercise during your pregnancy, just do not get hour HR above 120 and do not get overheated. Again your baby depends on you to keep him/her safe and healthy

Your diet sounds fine to me. You appear to be getting the proper balance of veggies, fruits, carbs and protein. If you are a little concerned about getting enough vitamins and minerals, you could always drink a 2nd Ensure shake for a mid-afternoon or evening snack. I assume you are also taking Prenatal vitamins? If so, you are doing great. But if you are really concerned, talk with the doc.

You need more protein and fat. Try adding protein powder (whey not soy) or raw pasteurized egg to your smoothie. Use whole milk yogurt (not fat free or low fat) in your smoothie. Skip the cake and maybe try one piece of whole grain bread or crackers (no salt) with a little butter or margarine.
Hey, when you're sick your sick, but you do need to keep up the protein as it tends to help eliminate chances of developing high blood pressure later on.
Note: pasteurized eggs are the eggs wrapped in plastic at the grocery store. Adding one to your smoothie will likely not even be noticed but it gives you a big nutritional boost.

I think that you are doing fine. Unless your Dr is concerned about too much weight gain or too much loss then keep doing what you are doing. I had all day, all 9 months sickness. Some days I could eat almost anything and others was a pure white rice and bread day.

Sounds like a healthy diet to me. Just make sure you aren't ever limiting a whole food category - like not eating carbs, or something like that. And do not try to lose weight. Otherwise what you described above sounds fine.

ok I had a hugh problem with my first I could not gain weight so I had to eat sooo much but after looking at it I dont think you are dieting you are eating well and I think you are getting enough. If your doc starts to tell you you are not gaining weight then you need to be consered but otherwise I would not worry

Id add yogurt in there, if its not in your smoothie, the probiotics might come in helpful, plus if you're nursing when the baby comes.
