No I am not married. My guy friend is having marital problems, and I can tell he is thinking about that other grass. How normal is this, he has been married for about 9 years.

Day to day struggles or routines can sometimes seem boring and can lead to people wondering what it would be like with someone else. This is kind of a cop out. It takes two to keep a relationship going and spicy. When you have kids, have schedules to be maintained, bills to be paid and all the other stresses of life can make one want to escape. Meet someone else that you don't have to deal with real life. It's exciting for a while, but real life will catch up with you.

Reading between the lines, is the guy friend now thinking you know him better and would be better for him? Friendships can easily cross into romance even when it starts off innocently. Beware, do not be put in the middle. If his marriage doesn't work, then let him end it and then see how it goes, but don't get involved until he has walked away.

Living a fantasy with someone is exciting. Dealing with the day to day things sometimes can get you really depressed. But life will catch up with you if you decide to act on the fantasy, and usually the grass isn't greener.

If you are truly a friend, encourage your friend to try to spice up his marriage. Doing little things for his wife. Having a date night. Remember what he saw in her while they were dating.

Its normal to think about but never act on. We will always find something that "seems" better. He needs to just let go of those feelings and realize that NEW grass will need way more work than the grass that has been his for so long. It always looks greener from afar. But up close WAY too much drama. He needs to stop and look at the positive things in his marriage and stop DWELLING on all the bad. Besides, is he ready to fight a battle that is never EASY!!!!! Tell him how wonderful he has it, unless your the grass that is so much greener- in that case GET on with your life and stop trying to destroy what someone else worked so hard to build. If its not you then talk some sense into this man.

Everyone thinks about that grass not just married people. It's normal to think and look and why not it's different and sometimes younger and prettier but after a while it look just like the grass you had before only this time the new grass is more expensive and harder to keep up with.

Yes its normal, especially if they are experiencing a few problems. I to use to think of the greener grass in my first marriage, but not anymore because I know the grass is much greener on this side of the fence lol.

There was a meet-up last year organized by Yahoo itself and I was lucky to meet some YA users. Prior to the said meet-up, I have already met some YAPpers, way back in 2007. I still meet up with some of them every once in a while. As to their looks, well, let's just say there's more to them behind the avatars and the Qs and As that they have here. And I can tell the same thing about me.

Grass always look greener on the other side, and people will always wonder about it -- its human nature. However, acting on it is another story. Sounds like he should focus on trying his best to resolve the marital issues before taking any other action.

I think it is normal if you are having problems, but one thing to remember, your own grass can be just as green if you tend to it. But if you let it go and ignore it, that's how you get weeds. It doesn't matter how good a lawn you start out with, if you don't take care of it, then it looses it's color....

The grass may look greener, but usually it is infested with weeds and really needs to be mowed. Tell him to be careful or he will spend the rest of his life buying weed killer and new lawn mowers.

The grass only looks greener because you're too far away to see that it has just as many weeds as your own pasture does.

It's normal I guess especially for couples who are having marital problems.

What's not normal is if he goes to that greener pasture and checks it out (that's cheating)...

If he goes to that greener side of pasture then he'd better keep on grazing until the pasture turns brown.
