Because he pitched 3 innings and his team won the game. I know it doesn't make sense, but that's the way it's credited.

he pitched more than 2 innings. basically he should have got credit for a hold. had another pitcher pitched after him he wouldnt have got credit for a save. but he finished the game. he has to get credit for something. there is basically not recognition for middle relievers who do their job. had he pitch 4 innings with lead he would have got a save. had he pitched 5 innings with the lead he would got the win.

3 innings pitched to finish the game automatically credits a save. I've personally seen a 22-4 game where there was a save, so it does happen. In my opinion it's really stupid.

well he pitched 3 innings and that is all you need for a save. I think they need to fix that rule a little.

I know sometimes they have big leads like that and they still get the save. I dont know. I've wondered about that.
