What kind of assignment? Is there any additional context?
Just looking at the words, it seems like "research objectives" would refer to why you are doing the research or what you plan to find/accomplish through your research.
Maybe if you aren't sure you should ask a classmate/teacher?

What were the objectives of the research? That is, what was the research designed to figure out or demonstrate? What were they trying to learn? Put that in your essay.

The word objectives could be substituted with the word goals. Does that make more sense?
Objective could also mean, purpose, as in an infinitive statement (infinitive often uses the word TO in front of it). For example: "Our research objective is TO discover how terminally ill patients use humor to keep their spirits up."

Just write a brief paragraph on what you are hoping to accomplish/find in your research. You'll have to write a conclusion at the end as well.
