I am 22 years old and i have just found out that i have PCOS. I really want to become pregnant and i am on the medications : Metformin 1000mg, levothyroxin 75 Mcg. I am a non-smoker, i do not drink, and i currently weigh 240 lbs. i have been gaining weight very easily. i have been to my OBGYN which is also a fertility doctor, and he recommended that i should think about taking CLOMID. But i want to know the chances of having a baby without using CLOMID? I really need help and if you have any information that will be helpful please share. P.S. Ive been married for 2.5 years now and still no pregnancy.... HELP ?? Thanks Bunches!!

Low card eating. Limit your bread, cereal, sweet and pasta intake and that will help with the wheat and even can help with ovulation. I was diagnosed with PCO at 19 and they didn't know much at that point. I gained so much weight I just didn't feel like me anymore. I decided to go on a no carb diet and lost 40 lbs. I got pregnant when i was 22 after getting my cycles back to normal and finally showing signs of ovulation. I continued with low carb eating and when my son was 19 months old I got pregnant again.
My cousin took my advice and did the low carb eating lifestyle after trying like crazy to get pregnant. She got pregnant within 4 months.
I did try Provera to get cycles going and clomid and some other meds but nothing worked until i lost the weight and started taking care of myself. I had to cut out pop and candy and stuff I really loved but it was worth it. I wasn't on metformin but I took another medicine that was basically the same thing (but OTC) and took prenatal vitamins everyday before getting pregnant.
So to sum it up the main thing you need to do now is low carb eating and lose some weight. I know it sounds like it wouldn't work but it worked for many PCO woman that I know. Depending on your height at 240 I would say you probably have to lose about 40-50 lbs to really regain control of your body.

Do you have a regular period? Without a regular period it means that you are not ovulating. Clomid can help you to Ovulate. I had to take it and I conceived on the second cycle taking it. It is very hard to get pregnant when you have PCOS so you may need help, but in the end the only thing that matters is when you finally you get that positive pregnancy test, whether it is a natural conception, or with the help of Clomid a healthy pregnancy is what is wanted. You could tyr on your own to get pregnant, but if it still does not work you should try Clomid. No matter what you decide I hope that you do get pregnant. Good Luck.

Have you talked to your doctor about taking more Metformin? I am about 130lbs and I was supposed to go up to 2000mg of Metformin, but I get pregnant before I made it that far. There are books out there about PCOS and a diet that is the best way to lose weight with PCOS and control your diet. If you realy want to conceive without Clomid, I suggest losing weight, because I have read that if you lose weight, you have a better chance of getting pregnant. Good luck.

The low carb thing works. I have PCOS and am now 25 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child (a little boy). I know it is hard, but have hope. We were about to give up, and then we got this wonderful suprise. Try to avoid the clomid if possiable, but do what is best for you. You will get there. Don't underestimate WATER! Drink up. IT helps

I have PCOS, too, and in my research I've discovered that a LOT of women with PCOS do get pregnant. If you really want to have a baby, you may want to start the clomid. I know a lot of success stories from the metform/clomid "cocktail". Best of luck, and sticky baby dust to you!

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 15/16, and was told I could never have kids. But I got pregnant at 18, had my daughter, and got pregnant again at 23, and now have a one year old and are TTC #3. Miracles do happen.

Sweetie, one of the symptoms of PCOS is infertility. And weight gain.
I have a good friend who has PCOS. She tried for years to become pregnant. She didn't have any luck until she took fertility drugs. So my advice is to go ahead and take the Clomid. Otherwise you are just butting your head on a brick wall.
Also, my friend couldn't drop any weight until she had gastric bypass surgery.....

you in many situations ovulate 2wks in the past your next era (i be responsive to this cos I certainly have extremely long cycles!). PCOS purely makes it perplexing to get pregnant given which you do not ovulate frequently/generally - your eggs are nevertheless as sturdy. in case you had intercourse once you have been ovulating, you have have been given as plenty hazard of having pregnant because of the fact the rest human beings do.

wow babe thats alot of meds i know the feeling (meds not pcos not trying to overshadow) i had a friend who didnt until she was on meds for fertitlity but then at the same time most times meds cause multiples. you might want to take that into consideration with pcos if you run the risk of once around the possibility of multiples might be a good thing.
