This is true by definition since the two triangles together make up the kite. Perhaps you mean to find the area of the kite.

The vertical diagonal BD = 15.
The horizontal diagonal AC = 2*AE = 2*3 = 6

Area kite = (1/2)(diagonal 1)(diagonal 2)

Area kite = (1/2)(15)(6) = 45
