if a person found my gift card and used it as their own, would they get in trouble for using it?

No, they wouldn't get into trouble if it's a generic gift card (doesn't have your name on it) Gift cards are like cash and should be treated as such. If you happen to still have the receipt for the gift card, or you can get it from the person who gave it to you, you may be able to get the funds transfered to another card (depending on the store) But you would only get the amount left on the card. So if someone used the card and there was a zero balance, unfortunately you wouldn't be able to get it back.

Nope. Gift cards don't have identification associated with them. Sorry, you're out of luck.

that depend on if your name or some code numbers are on it it can be traced
