I moved in this duplex with a friend in 9/2005.At that time the My roommate signed a lease agreement and put me on there as a tenant.Couple months after I moved in the owner sold the duplex to a management company. Everything was fine Just last week I find out the original owner never provided the company with paper work saying I lived here.They are requiring me to fill out paper work to live here I confirmed with 2 people that they were ONLY checking criminal history & they said thats all.I let them know I do have bad credit & they said thats ok Ive been there for 2 years paying rent thats fine.Management company called saying my credit history does not look good & if the rest of the report doesnt turn out good they will ask me to move out.I told her ive been livin there for 2 yrs paying the rent and other bills on time. She said so theres no way i i can tell that. I can get proof that I have lived here for 2 years etc. Can they really do this?

The original lease that I was on was lost by the original owner I guess, The company said they requested it from her many times but she never sent it to them

I do have proof that I have been living here I can provide my address changes and bills showing I have been living her since 2005

Before going into a long battle which you might win or not, why don't you just take your name completly off the lease. Your Room Mate will be responsible to pay the rent to the management company himself. You can still give your Room Mate your share for the rent and/or pay other common bills instead. That should take care about the problem, i hope (:

Rentals and leasing can get very complicated.
The laws and regulations vary between states and provinces.
Most state or provincial governments maintain web sites that can direct you to the Landlord & Tenant regulatory agency for your area.
There are usually laws that prevent you from being evicted if you are paying your rent and not disturbing others, etc. There are limits to the actions that landlords can take. You do have rights. Bad credit is irrelevant if you are an existing tenant and paying your bills.
They may want you to move so they can lease out the space for more money.
You should gather up evidence of rental and utility payments. Bank statements or cancelled cheques will work.
Most utilities can provide a printout of invoices and payments.

What is the status of your lease agreement? Have you and/or our roommate signed renewal leases or are you just month to month after the initial lease?

If you are just month to month, the landlord can tell you to move out. They do have to give you 30 days (might be more depending on your lease agreement and state laws).

If you have a renewed lease agreement, the landlord can opt not to renew at the end of the lease and give you 30 days to move.

Unless you have some kind of rent control, the landlord can tell you to move. Hiring a lawyer would be a waste of time. Better start packing if you can't convince them to let you stay.

Do you have a copy of your lease? The land lord should have provided you with one - if not, you should have asked for one.

shoulda's aside, can you contact your old LL and ask for a copy of the lease? They might have one floating around.

Unfortunately, if you don't have a lease with you on it, I don't think there's much you can do. Sorry.

Previous Bills find a hmm attorney get ready to sue em but make sure if u get a lawyer/attorney, they are reputable in the community

Wouldn't you be listed on the current lease as a tenant? ... That is what would be binding. Look into it.
