Depressing lyrics, impressive instrumentals, haunting vocals... whatever makes you feel like crying. Preferably something not well known.

Genres - pretty much anything under the huge genre of rock: alternative, classic, maybe an emo song or two if they're really good, indie, whatever. Any older songs are welcome, too, no matter what genre (except country - sorry to all those that love it but I can't stand most country songs!)... I like pretty much everything back to, like, the 30's.

Please give song title, artist, and a link to the song on YouTube if possible (it doesn't have to be like the song's official music vid or anything, just something that uses the song).

Thanks! =)

Antimatter is the saddest band in the world. The album "Planetary Confinement" is unbelievably depressing, but any song from any album brings haunting instrumentation and vocals.

My pick would be 'My Immortal' by Evanescence. There's just this hauntingly sad feel to the song that takes me back to memories that were perhaps not so good. Amy Lee sounds emotionally tortured as she sings this. Don't know if that type of song would be what you want to hear, but it's what immediately sprang to mind.

there is a song by Sufjan Stevens called John Wayne Gacy Jr.--really really really sad, but really creepy too. But I really like the music. I'm no psycho though.
