Today I received notification that I have been assigned room and I got list of roomate contacts. I am so overjoyed. For the first year I commuted to university and it stinked but now I do not have too. In addition it will be apartment not dorm, costing nearly same as most dorms for freshmen. But here is one thing! My family, especially my mom and sister never wanted me to get on-campus housing by reasiong with cost. Altough I take whole responsibility for paying on myself (after I gradutate, and while at school by paying interest from my pocket). Anyway not many students can afford college without borrowing, can they? I analyzed my situation and determined that would be the best for me to live on-campus or closer to my school. However, my mother used to threat me to cut help in paying for college even at situation when we were late to church and she accused me that I delayed purposefully. What do to if she will not accept the fact that I move out and give me ultimatum that I have to

stay or otherwise she will "cut" me private student loan which had to be co-signed by my father? I know decision should depend on him, but my mother is more like boss of my home!
I cannot stay at house because it is not gonna help me with grades (I would say details but that would be long story). At least I decided if I was threated than I would go to military. But I hope to use it as last resort.!
Please what to do?

PS. the student loans are on my name!
I did not have to take too much, I received lot of grants.

It sounds like your living situation is not conducive to good studying. If you're over 18 it might be time to make the decision to move out on your own and not accept any money from your family.

your mother is like most moms an dads they dont want to see thier kids grow up an leave home, fathers more so with their daughters.parents will often use any reasoning they can to keep their kids at home, i dont know of anything that can be said to them or anything that can be done just live up to what your saying you are going to do pay those loans back it will make them proud if you do
