What I mean is, if it is possible to fertilize your egg in a test tube then develop the embryo into a healthy baby in a special incubator and not have to get pregnant and go through the nine months, Would you choose that over pregnancy?

Great answers so far. Most women pick pregnacy so far.
I wonder, what about you women that already have kids and know the pregnancy experience: would consider the incubator then?
Some day it may be possible to do the incubator. I can definitely see it as the way to go if the woman would be a high risk pregnancy and cannot carry a fetus to term.

I would love to experience pregnancy (in the far future of course!)
But my gyno told me that my body frame is not strong enough to support a pregnancy. Not that I want to get pregnant, I'm only 18, and I'm pretty small for my age.
Seeing as how my body wouldn't be able to successfully handle a pregnancy, I'd want to try the incubator baby plan.
[[But I'd seriously love to know the miracle of pregnancy, haha.]]

If society were a little more open minded and valued a woman for something besides her body, I'd gladly choose pregnancy. But, as things are, if I had the option, I'd choose the incubator. Pregnancy reeks irreversible havoc on your body. The only problem with the incubator idea is I'm not sure how I would breastfeed once the baby has matured to 9 months.

Instant baby! Yeah!
I would go for the incubator. Pregnancy and childbirth is far from being risk-free. With an incubator, I wouldn't have to factor in the loss of work when deciding if/when to have a child.

Hell no. I'd much rather go through 12+ hours of labor, 9 months of pregnancy then have a baby that grew in an incubator.

The only reason I would choose the incubator is because I had a really hard pregnancy. My diabetes was out of whack the whole time and I was constantly throwing up! Don't even get me started on the heart burn!! It was a good experience other than that! To feel her moving around inside me was the best part!!

That made me sick as well... Not only does he not care about the health of mothers, but he would go further to say that pro-choice = pro-abortion. There are many reasons a person might want/need an abortion and the only thing that will be accomplished by making abortion illegal again is increasing the death of women who are in desperate need of an abortion. The only choice when abortion is illegal is to find someone shady enough to do the procedure, or you might be lucky to find someone reputable who does it because they actually care about the cause but due to the illegal nature of abortion they can not obtain the proper tools. Abortion is no different that prohibition or the war on drugs. If you take away something that people want/need you are only opening up a market for bad people to do bad things, and lowering the quality of the service that needs to be provided.

I am trying to get pregnant so this will be an emotional answer. First of all, I would give anything in this world to be able to have a child.. to make a precious baby with the man I love and give him the greatest gift I can - to make him a daddy. BUT we are dealing with the fact that it may not be for us or God has a different plan in store for us. I would love to have our child growing inside me - to nurture, care for, read to, to sing to, to help grow into a healthy, caring, self-sufficient individual who contributes good to our society. On the other hand, if I could afford to fertilize my egg with his sperm and produce a happy, healthly baby then I would probably consider it. Actually I would do it. I will probably never have the luxury of carrying my own child - You see women everyday we can have one child after another and not take care or want the children. Then you have a couple like "us" we desperately want a child, can provide an excellent life full of love..and we cannot have a child. Does it matter? Yes... technology advanced has given women like me the opportunity to be a mother by means other than natural.

no, I think I'll like some parts of pregnancy. and at least with pregnancy I'll have 9 months where I will always know where my off-spring is. I'm a bit over protective when it comes to kids.
I'd like to feel the kicks and movements as well. and I want to breastfeed which can't happen unless I'm pregnant and my body's hormones respond to produce milk

Have given birth to three children naturally, no Caesars or episiotomies/tears, wouldn't change it for the world.
There's nothing like having a newborn placed on your belly/chest and have them take their first breath and then start to cry like a little kitten and have an overwhelming sense of love overcome you.
Edit: Teeleecee, try not to worry about it. Sometimes it doesn't matter what a woman does or doesn't say even if it's completely positive and non-offensive, there'll always be someone who either takes it the wrong way or just likes to thumb others down because they really haven't anything better to do.

I wouldn't choose the incubator because when you carry a child inside of you for 9 months you create a bond with this child. You can't get that kind of a bond from a test tube or incubator.
