Whats the funniest thing you have seen in a baseball game?

Mine is:
I was at a spring training game in Arizona and I saw the Mariners play. Yuniesky Betencourt was running down the base line to beat out a bunt and he did, but turned the wrong way and Adrain Gonzalez just tagged him out!

My own playing days:
When I was on JV in high school, funny moment happened. Bottom 7th (we played 7 innings), runner on 2nd, tie game. My team was on the field. Line Drive up the middle, our center fielder who has a CANNON (I played 3rd, no relevance to the story) for an arm gets the ball right about as the runner is a good third of the way towards home from 3rd, and he fires an absolute bullet. It looked good the entire way and the runner wasn't even close to home. The ball keeps going, and going, and going, and it turns out he threw it no where near home plate. It went OVER the backstop and hit this jumbo cup of soda on top of these bleachers. I mean not only did he come no where close to getting the guy out, but I mean he hit a cup from at least 300 feet away on a fly...that's pinpoint accuracy! It was hilarious. How can you throw it so off target it goes over the backstop!?

In a pro baseball game:
I mean how can you not say that Wellman guy who manages the Braves AA team going bonkers on the field after a bad call? However, if I were to say one I've attended at a stadium, definately Randall Simon hitting the Miller Park hot dog over the head with a bat during the Miller Park racing of the meats. Priceless...and suspension!

I'm sure there have been things that were funnier, but I was at last Sunday's Twins game against the Rangers. The Rangers pitcher got his cleats caught in the rubber and stumbled after making the throw. He looked pretty silly.

I know that’s a pretty weak “funny moment” but I haven’t seen too many funny things at the games I’ve been to.

Edit - Oh, I got a better one. I saw this on TV. Also a Twins game but don't remember who they were playing. It was earlier this year. There was a runner on first. The batter hit the ball, the runner went to 3rd and was held up. The batter rounded second with his head down running to 3rd. He was only a few feet from third when he noticed the other runner was held up. The runner on 3rd, for whatever reason, took off for home and the batter stood at third. The runner got caught halfway between 3rd and home. He was running back to 3rd. The batter, for whatever reason, decided he better try to go back to second so the runner can get to 3rd. The runner was tagged out before making it back to 3rd, as well as the batter being tagged out at second. That double play ended the inning. It could have been 2nd & 3rd with only 1 out, but instead it ended the inning. As a Twins fan I loved it.

I'd have to say i was in the Bleachers in Dodgers stadium and this guy came in the stands wearing a San Diego Padres uniform and started to cheer.

These Big Mexican guys got up and told him to: Shut Up and that guy sat down so quick and was quiet for the rest of the game. i think he even clapped when the Dodgers scored a run.

In terms of in a game:

One time the Dodgers were losing 8-3 heading into the 9th inning (they were playing against the Houston Astros). Since most of the fans had cleared out- my friend and i went down to the bullpen area where Randy Myers was warming up. Some kids were kind of harassing Randy and the bullpen coach started talking some smack to some of the kids- basically about how they should shut up because they are uneducated and poor, etc.

That really ticked me off because i'm thinking dude for 8-13 year old kids to be at a baseball game is a big deal and a professional ballplayer should be used to heckling.

So my friend and i started chanting Joe Carter's name (since Myers had given up the Walk Off GS in a past year to Joe). We could tell he was getting ticked because you could hear the ball slap the glove harder and harder.

Well when we went into the game the Dodgers had rallied to make it 8-5. Myers gave up a single to Piazza, and then a 3 run shot to Tim Wallach and they won 9-8. And as soon as the Dodgers won- the pitching coach cleared out of the bullpen and some of the kids were yelling at him.

Good old ball-park memories.

Probably not funny but that would be the unassisted triple play by Greg Hansen of the Washington Senators.

But funny, I guess would be when Frank Howard, of the Senators, stole second base. You probably had to be there to appreciate the total, stunned silence and frozen in place players when 6'7" 290lb Frank Howard took off for second.

The catcher stood and stared. He finally recovered but the 2nd baseman stood completely stunned. The shortstop went over to cover the bag but he bailed when he saw big Frank steaming towards him. If the catcher had thrown no one had the nerve to catch it and tag Frank.

There are so many I've seen on the news like Canseco letting a fly ball hit his head and bounce over for a homerun. Or the Detroit Tiger who dove into first and then stood up and pulled his pants down because he got sand in his undies, forgetting that bhe was standing in front of 20,000 fans and live TV. Or Johnson hitting that bird with a pitch. Or Willie Stargel, realizing he was going to be tagged out by 10' stealing second, stopped and tried to signal time out.

My all time favorite was when John Kruk came to bat against Randy Johnson in the All-Star game. Johnson threw the ball way inside to the left hand hitting Kruk, just over his head. Kruk pulled his left hander batting helmet off, turned it around so the ear protector now covered his left ear, and the bill was down the back of his neck, and he batted right handed.

There's millions of them.

This year at Fenway....A Pats Fan (about 6 rows up) threw a slice of pizza on a Red Sox fan cause he failed to catch a fly ball. The pizza came flying out of nowhere (you should see it in slow motion if you haven't seen it) The Pats fan was tossed out of the game (The joke was he was tossed out of the game not for hitting the other guy, but for wasting a good slice of pizza...considering how much pizza cost at the park)

It made the rounds of internet videos everywhere...it even made Countdown with Keith Olberman and other national news programs.

One of my games... right fielder had the worst day possible... let off a homerun that hit off his head, running in for a foul ball and tripping on the bullpen mound, throwing the ball from right to third only to throw it way too far over the fence, getting attacked by a bird, and then the best one, when rain came in it was only raining in right field. Thank you Joey for keeping a smile the whole time though.

My funniest memory was at a yankee game in 2006. A girl ran on the feild and ran over trying to touch Jeter. He tried to stay away from her but she wouldn't stop until security finally grabbed her.

Another one is a Detroit Tigers player being thrown out at first from the left feilder. He hit a line drive that he thought was caught by the shortstop but it really wasn't. He was too busy cursing in anger that he didn't realize. When he did he tried to hustle down the line but couldnt make it.

the funniest thing I saw was in Anaheim during a Sunday afternoon game back when the Angels were not that good and there were a lot of empty seats. Anyway, this guy was sitting all by himself in a section and he was talking to him self. He would look to his left and say something, then he would look to his right and say something. He carried on quite a conversation with no one else around.

Shoot! I not sure who it was -- in Baltimore i think ... Rick Dempsey maybe It technically wasn't during a game, but a rain delay.

He came onto the field in a heavy downpour and acted out the entire "Casey at the Bat" poem -- playing all the parts -- pitcher, batter, ump, etc. The crowd loved it. Very funny.
