For the modern viewer City of Angels may Suffice. There is, however, another film in my mind entitled "What Dreams May Come" (1998). It stars Robin Williams as Doctor Chris Nielson. In a nutshell he dies and goes to beautiful heaven but leaves paradise to search for his wife's soul in hell. What could be more dramatic than that?

It was not a blockbuster film. I admit, it takes an open mind to appreciate it but I can't deny that the plot is very dramatic. In films, It all boils down to personal preference, doesn't it?

"City of Angels" where Seth (Nicolas Cage), an angel, chose to become human and exchange an eternal existence for just a moment to feel her (Meg Ryan) touch and to savor the scent of her hair. "What good is flying when you cannot feel the wind in your face?"

Another would be "John Q" where at the point of desperation, John chose to shoot himself in the head so that the doctor can transplant his heart to his son. "I will not bury my son! My son is going to bury me!!!"

Edit: Dharma is right. Williams had such great love in "What Dreams May Come". Truly a great movie.
