Coming from you QB, I would think immediately that it was a compliment! And, I think in general people mean it as a compliment. Unfortunately many people are caught up in the semantics and unwilling to accept compliments... but you have a big heart QB, that is obvious and only a grumpy fool would take offence if they knew you.

Hm-mm, I've honestly never heard anyone say THAT before! Yet at the same time and also on both hands, yes and no. See, yes, because a homosexual person MAY just take offense at that statement even if it's meant in a complimentary way. And no because hey, every one of us is human and we all have desires and wants that we wish we could fulfill yet we can't.

So far, only one person has said that to me..
It was a girl I knew when I was 16, she said it was such a waste that only the guys could get me and that the girls are missing out on so much... haha, I was flattered because I dont usually receive compliments like that...
So no, I wouldnt be offended if it was said in a nice way... :-)

I know you don't mean it as offensive, but it is. Because asuming that the gay person is openly gay they obviously are very comfortable with their sexuality.
However you could reword the statement and say instead; "Well I know you're gay and all, but if you were straight you would be so the kind of guy i'd go for." (something to that effect)

It's a sad statement but I don't think it's offensive, because there are plenty of straight guys that I wish were gay!

I can honestly say that I haven't been asked that question before, but I don't think I would be offended. Some people probably ask out of curiosity.

Most people don't say that.
Have many people said "I wish you were straight."? It's not a statement made by a friend to a friend.

In that context, its meant to be funny and not offensive, so I'd say it shouldn't offend anyone.
