to sincerely make amends i think it needs to be in person, unless one believes that "in person" at this junture will likely only inflame the situation, alternatively one could just go eat a banana split and mull things over for another month or so. i'm not a social worker, but i did stay at a holiday inn 20 yrs ago!

What I did was terribly evil. I can apologize till my butt falls off, but the last thing I'm going to do is put myself in the line of fire!!

probably most likely by email.....
but if it was something HUGE or whatever, I'd approach them the next time I saw them and apologize straight from the heart
