Thanks all, but I've already tried all of the steps you've suggested. Yes, I have paid for dsl and I have done the tools, options and connection thing and my service was not wireless in the beginning. As I said, I bought a new modem and that one does not work either. What I really want to know is, how do I empty out my computer and use the restore discs?

Oh yes, and I do have Verizon and I spent 45 minutes with them and they wanted to set me up with a program that will cost me $10 dollars more a month. Not!

It could be as simple as entering the setup of your modem and make sure you have the correct details entered for your username and password and save the settings. Feel free to email me for more detailed help with this problem if you don't get a suitable solution here.

One other thing to try would be right click on the connection icon and select properties, then click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties. Make sure to note whatever numbers are in there in case you have to put them back after the next step, which is to click to select Obtain an IP address automatically and same for Obtain DNS server address automatically. You might want to restart the computer after that.

Try running the DSL cable directly from your modem to your computer and see if you can get online ok. If you can, it's the setup of either your DSL or the router.

Call your DSL service provider. You may have corrupted/lost your setup for the DSL signal/account. It does happen. I have Verizon DSL and it's happened to me with power surges, etc. on occasion. It could also be your router. It may have lost it's setup. Either is possible.

Hope this helps.

You may have to call your internet provider to walk you through the connection procedure again. I had to do that before to get back on line. It should be a toll free number.
