Why didn't Kamsa separate Vasudev and Devaki and why did Devaki and Vasudev continue to have sex?

If Kamsa was so scared of the children of Devaki and Vasudev killing him then it doesn't make sense he put them in the same jail cell and if Devaki and Vasudev knew that their children would die immediately after birth why did they choose to have intercourse?

You have to understand one thing here properly. The Prophecy from God was Kamsa would be killed by 8th child of Devaki. So Kamsa knowing fully well that Devaki will have 8 children he allowed Vasudeva also to stay with her in the jail and wanted them to have 8 children to kill. But the foolish Kamsa did not understand the prophecy fully and correct that he will be killed by the 8th child and it happend-
