I think Iran's actions in the power vaccum that is iraq had to be expected and are normal given the complete scenario. So perhaps all this is playing out just as Bush and Cheney hoped.
and of course there is the oil thing, but we all pretty much agree that we are also there to safeguard oil supplies.

Well, I can't give any links saying you're wrong. I just hope Bush hasn't convinced himself that these are the 'end times' and fancies himself as some sort of crusader. There was an article last month that's still bothering me. Basically, it said that Bush and Cheney appear to think that dealing with Iran is something only they can handle:

Then I got an email today pointing to a new video that compares the similiarities between FOX news items about Iraq prior to the invasion and recent FOX news items about Iran. I can't confirm this since I don't watch FOX, but here's the link to the video and transcript:

Bush wanted Iraq and Hussein bad after the assassination attempt on Bush, Sr. and the incomplete Persian Gulf War. These two things define all of Bush's actions in the Near and Middle East. The Iraq War is personal for GWBush. Iran is a sidebar.

As an Iranian citizen, Iran doesnt really care about Iraq, were not too fond of them after the Iran/Iraq war, so I definantly wouldnt call Iraq our little brother!

The war in Iraq was about removing a mass murderer. People got bent out of shape when Hitler killed 6,000,000 Jews; why don't they feel the same way about the descendants of Babylon?

It was about establishing an American base of operations in the Middle East.In the near future,the control of fossil fuel reserves will be paramount,and will likely devolve into an armed struggle,pitting the industrialized nations against one another.
The potential Iranian conflict is just a consequence of that strategy.
