Iggys are mostly vegetarian, but they do eat some bugs if offered. They need a very large habitat, as they can get over 6 feet long. They can get to be pretty old, I'm not sure how old, exactly, and as they get older, people usually get rid of them as they arn't too kind. Water dragons are like igunanas, only smaller and friendlier. They do need a few more things, but they're very sweet to have.

They eat mainly veggies and fresh greens with occasional fruits and very little protien. They can live in excess of 10 years. They can be handled when they are young, but once they reach sexual maturity, they will become mean and bite, scratch, and tail whip. The tails are capable of leaving open wounds and breaking glass enclosures. They can get 6 ft long and will need a room size enclosure. They are only popular pets because they are sold cheap. Their care is expensive and most of the time they do not receive the proper care and become ill. You can find many iguanas sitting in rescues because people do not realize what they are getting into when they buy the cute little 6-10" lizard at the petstore. I seriously recommend looking at some other type of pet lizard.

They are wonderful, but you need to know what you're getting into. An up to 6 foot lizard that can be tempermental during breeding season. Needs a very large habitat, basking lights, UVB, fresh salad and vitamins daily, pool for soaking. Here are my two favorite sites:

Igs are so much fun! lost of money has been spent in my two. the can get up to 3 feet. they need to be in a humid area and stay warm. they like stuff like kale, mustard greens, and carrots. If you want a friendly ig you need to tame it, holding it at least more than an hour a day. They need to be able to bathe themselves so you need to have a deep enough water box. i have a 3 ft by 2 ft cage and we used one of the little pond pools that you get from lowes. it works nicely. Every once in awhile fill the bathtub up with warm water. they like to swim.

With iguanas you have to be aware of the fact that they get to be about 9 feet( i think) they can be huge and it is cruel to keep a large pet in a small cage. they are really nice and can be left out of their cages so long as you don't have any large holes in the room you are keeping them in. they eat alot of vegi.s like squash. they also need alot of powderw sprinkled on their food
