Most dreams occur during REM sleep, which is usually 1.5 - 2 hours out of your total sleep, in usually 4-5 segments. Usually the last period of REM sleep is the longest, and it's usually the last dream that we might remember when we awaken. You might look into the literature and see what more is known about the length of dreams. Sounds like a fun thing to read about.
