For the most part, yes. It's very difficult to find accurate sources of information. Much of what passes for journalism is merely a hasty rewrite of a government press release or some concocted hot-button psedo issue cooked up during a slow period for news of the usual sort, plane crashes, train wrecks, floods, hurricanes, etc. I usually stick with the BBC Online for international affairs and the AP for domestic. The rest of it is basically propaganda designed to manipulate your thinking.

Not really. The newspaper I used to work for printed articles as factual as possible. The editorials were definitely slanted toward the right, while in my column, I really tried to present as much information as possible.
When I wrote my opinion, it would go either way. I guess I just looked for some common sense.
Most papers however, will lean one way or the other. But most really try to be honest.
My biggest complaint is that some reporters don't check their sources or their facts. Thats what gets them in trouble.

I can only tell you that I am a professional journalist and that my colleagues and I take our jobs very seriously. In fact, I'd wager that we care more deeply about what we do than most people in most other professions.
Not only do we NOT intentionally print lies, as your question suggests, but we actually go to great lengths to verify the factual details in the articles we write. That doesn't mean we're always absolutely perfect with regard to factual accuracy (that's impossible), but we, and virtually all journalists, consider any error to be a major professional embarrassment, and thus we try to avoid errors at all costs.
If you spent one day in a newsroom, you might change your opinion.

like out of a whole interview of someone they will only put "sandy" beat up a fan when the whole story was "sandy" beat up a girl that hurt her sister
or something like that
so its up to people to not beleive everything
