I believe you have a few of the facts wrong. You have in general the right idea. Bush doesn't want to leave Iraq because of many reasons, one of them is he believes they will be attacked by terrorists not the US. the other is about oil yes. Sadam Heussains son is dead. The US has lost a lot of soldiers to this war as has England and other countries. Iraq included as well as many civilians from Iraq and other countries. I think we must pull out of the war. It is not our war.

The Jihadi's, the militant Muslims, are basically Nazis in Kaffiyahs - they believe that Islam, a radically conservative (definitely not liberal!) form of Wahhabi Islam, should own and control the Middle East first, then Europe, then the world, and that all who do not bow to Allah should be killed, enslaved, or subjugated. They want to finish the Holocaust, destroy Israel and purge the world of Jews. This is what they say.
There is also a civil war raging in the Middle East - for the most part not a hot war, but a war of ideas. Islam is having its Inquisition and its Reformation today, but it is not yet known which will win - the Inquisition, or the Reformation.
If the Inquisition wins, then the Wahhabis, the Jihadi's, will control the Middle East, and the OPEC oil, and the US, European, and Asian economies, the techno-industrial economies, will be at the mercy of OPEC - not an OPEC dominated by the well-educated and rational Saudis of today, but an OPEC dominated by the Jihadi's.
You want gas in your car? You want heating oil next winter? You want jobs? You want the dollar to be worth anything? You better hope the Jihad, the Muslim Inquisition, loses, and the Islamic Reformation wins.
If the Reformation movement wins, that is, the moderate Muslims who believe that Islam can respect and tolerate other religions, and live in peace with the rest of the world, and move out of the 10th century into the 21st, then the troubles in the Middle East will eventually fade away, and a moderate and prosperous Middle East will emerge.
In the 20th century, it was Western democracy vs. communism, and before that Western democracy vs. Nazism, and before that Western democracy vs. German Imperialism. Western democracy won, three times, but it wasn't cheap, fun, nice, easy, or quick. Indeed, the wars against German imperialism (WWI), Nazi imperialism (WWII), and communist imperialism (the 40-year Cold War that included the Vietnam War, itself a major battle in a larger war) covered almost the entire century.
The first major war of the 21st Century is the war between Western Judeo/Christian Civilization and Wahhabi Islam. It may last a few more years, or most of this century. It will last until the Wahhabi branch of Islam fades away, or gives up its ambitions for regional and global dominance through Jihad, or until Western Civilization gives in to the Jihad.

You are way off the mark,I live in U.S were not there for the oil as the liberal anti -war chickens
would have you believe 1.terrorist training camp
2.wmd's 3.ruthless dictator who kills his own people,as well as the kurds in nortern iraq just
to stay in power.while it's true no wmd's were
found that's because there was too much time
given when we were going through diplomatic
channels when we should of attacked right away.sort of like notifing a drug dealer were going to raid your house next week, do you honestly think he'll keep his drugs there so he gets busted with them or would he move them somewhere else? well that's just what happened
in iraq dont you think he had time enough to move those weapons to funnel them through Syria before we got there, no wonder no weapons were ever found does'nt anybody like
to think anymore. Even our own generals, you don't attack a country with 8million people in it
with 140,000 troops not enough soldiers to secure the borders to prevent weapons & non-
native insurgents from coming into fight ,let alone trying to have some type of order while
the iraqi's try to establish a government to be proud of, one that guarantees freedoms for it's
people just like what we have in the U.S.A.you
don't see catholics or protestants killing each other over here.but we do need a lot less libralism over here i can tell you.

Dear katie, how in the hell can you say that you
must be listening to people that don't know what there talking about were not there for the
oil!!!!! and as far as you say it's not our war do
you have any idea what would happen if we left
that would open up the country for jihadists to take over &eventually link up with iran you think we have problems now! as for innocent civillians
let their deaths not be on our heads but rather on the cowardly jihadists who use them as shields knowing we'll try not to shoot at them.
we need to stop this kind of mind set,we need to start shooting, because if we do they will no longer use civillians to hide behind and you will save more lives that way. I know that sounds cruel but that'why we go to great lengths not to start a war in the first place. by the way reason
why other countries, france, russia &a few others
did'nt join u.s.&england is because of backdoor
deals that were made with saddam to line their own pockets with money, through oil deals that's why, just simple greed that's why were all suffering no matter what country we live in
remember, were all in this together i'll be pulling
for you

I agree with the other person that answered..Saddam 2 sons are dead. And I believe one of the reasons besides oil that we are still in Iraq is because Saddam had tried to kill Bush senior. He even had Bush's image in tile on the floor of one of his mansions. In the Arab world there is no higher insult than to show the bottom of your shoes..what better way to get Bush Jr. all upset than to show Arabs walking across his father's face.
Another reason is because we charged in there with no exit plan. We destroyed electrical plants, water treatment centers etc: BUT didn't know how to go about fixing what we broke. We also counted on the Iraqi people to start a police force of their own kind..that never happened either.

Just to give you as well as our Gov't an update.
These people have been killing one another since before the time of Christ.
They actually hate ine another because of there ethnic backrounds, Sunni, Curds,
Oh by the way the massive bombings are being done by them, They are killing one and other, more than we are them.
They hate each other. They have had a war lord system there for eon's and it is all about control.
One Religious faction against another.
They will fight and die even if we left yesterday.
