Many feel that your government of Iran staged the entire thing. The plane was equipped with a transponder that made it appear like it was a F-14 and it flew directly at the US no fly zone and ignored repeated attempts to warn it off by radio. In addition no human remains were ever found at the crash site. There is no indication that there were any passengers on board. It is very likely that this was a staged event by the Iranian government meant to stir up anti-US sentiment.

He didn't pull the trigger. The Iranian's are just as responsible for that tragic accident as President Reagan.

No one remembers that incident, but there was a good reason for it. If you go to the Washington Post 3 days after the shoot-down they give all of the details.

Because the Iranians were attacking our finest and most advanced warship at the time. The plane didn't respond to a challenge and was assumed to be one of their F-14's for other reasons. It was probably the Iranians that intended that to happen. Reagan didn't shoot it down. The crew did their job and that is the way it goes. They are lucky we didn't reduce their capital to ashes for attacking the USS Vincennes.

Why did Reagan's funeral last for two agonizing months, and then they wanted to deface Mount Rushmore with his image? Is it because he was the "Great Communicator"? This man could barely speak. I just don't understand the hold he had on people. And yes, he should be given full credit for shooting down the airbus.

It was an accident from the standpoint of the US. It was deliberate provacative action from the standpoint of Iran.
