can i change the plug on my laptop from a usb 1.1 to a usb 2?

i mean can i open it up and remove the usb 1.1 plug from the curcuit board and put a usb 2.0 in there instead

USB 1.1 and 2.0 have the same plugs and socket. They just have different data rates. 2.0 has higher data rate. More here:
