He needs to prove that he worked in the grocery business - so that he can get a small pension from the union. He needs to show who he worked for and how long? How does he get earnings record this old? from the IRS?

he has a problem the ss will tell him yes he worked but will not tell him who paid the fcia tax -- and the grocery business chances are does not have 40 year old records --sorry!!

The employer isn't legally required to keep earning records that far back. But, it's worth checking.

He should be able to get a report of his earnings from the Social Security office. You can check for his local office at
www.ssa.gov

I'm not sure if they will be willing to detail what organization reported the income, but it's worth a try.
