1. Tommy's mean height is 62 inch from three observations.
The total of the three values is 3x62 = 186"
The first two values add up to 58+61 = 119"
The third value is 186 - 119 = 67"

2. If the range is not high and number of observations is more than 8, then average is the best representation of discrete values.

(58+61+x)/3 = 62
58+61+x = 3*62= 186
x = 186-61-58 = 67

14,14,17,20,21,23,24,25,26,27,28,31
The median is (23+24)/2= 23.5 [half are above and half below
The mean is the sum over 12 = 22.5
The mode is 14 because it is the number that shows up the most
The range is 31-14 = 17
The median seems to be the most representative of the trend of the ages.

I would say the mean is the best one because you add all the numbers together and then divide it by the number of numbers
basically the average age of the participants.

i got 22.5

Could be wrong, but :\
